Horton Plains is a national park in Sri Lanka with very rich bio diversity. Most of species found here are endemic to Sri Lanka and some are only found in Horton Plains. This national park accounts for 10000 acres and it is above 2300m above sea level. The Bakers falls also can be found inside the Horton Plains national park. There major rivers Mahaweli, Kelani and Walawe start from this area.
This falls gets its name following a legend of a price and his lover. The legend says they leaped from this falls to immortalize their love since the price’s father was against the marriage.
