Beruwela is another town about 10 to 15 minutes by tuk tuk northwards from Bentota which has maintained its small fishing village charm despite being next to the major beach resorts of Bentota and Aluthgama.
See the fresh catch brought by the colourful fishing boats early in the morning, stroll over the idyllic markets and enjoy one of the longest beaches in Sri Lanka. While the centre of Beruwela is a busy commercial town, the beach areas and surrounding residential areas are quiet and tranquil.
To the South of Bentota, beautiful, uncrowded beaches and traditional scenic village life are characteristic of the village of Induruwa, which is a small fishing village stretching along a small creek. The sandy beaches are ideal for long walks, sunbathing and swimming. A lot less crowded than its neighbours and known for its natural beauty Induruwa is attracting some new hotels which are combining this tropical paradise with first class wellness programs and traditional Ayurveda practices.
The nearby sweet water lagoons and the Maadu River with its amazing flora and fauna are also attracting ECO tourists and bird watchers to Induruwa.
